Théâtre du Monde was founded in 2001 in the United States
by actress, director, and attorney
Fawn Elizabeth Wilderson.
We created a US 501C3 nonprofit in 2003 and a French Association 1901 in 2006.
Presently, TDM has branches and associates in:
Los Angeles, California
Minneapolis, Minnesota
Paris, France
Our Mission:
Our Mission is to increase inter-cultural understanding and appreciation, and to promote literacy, through the medium of Readers Theatre.
We aim to do this by -
Presenting staged readings of original screenplays from around the world and providing forums for interaction between film industry and theatre artists,
and by -
Working with teachers and school administrators to create Readers Theatre projects in their schools that will encourage a love for reading, augment literacy and improve inter-cultural understanding among students.
We will also work with schools to include and incorporate parents in our Readers Theatre projects.
We use scripts from every corner of the globe, and we also work with budding elementary and highschool playwrites and screenwriters to create and share their own stories.
Once a story is written or filmed, it can travel far
to bring understanding, joy,excitement and learning to every other corner of our globe.

Our Recent and Upcoming Projects:
We are presently working with several Administrators in the Minneapolis Public Schools to produce a Readers Theatre Program in the schools. Students will stage readings of selected works and will learn to craft their own scripts for performance.
In coming months, TDM will host forums focusing on other types of filmmaking - from "oppositional film" to European film to Bollywood and Nollywood and everything in between. Be sure to take part in all the discussions! For more information, please contact theatredumonde@gmail.com.
How to Write Hollywood Screenplays, Paris 2008
This one-day seminar -- taught by Stu Samuels, long-time Hollywood movie and TV executive, producer and writer -- was created to show students how to create and write good Hollywood screenplays, from desirable marketing concepts to the details of story design and Hollywood-style screenwriting.
